这篇很有风趣的作品最初发表在1871年11月15日哥本哈根出版的《儿童画报》上。这是安徒生所写的最后几篇童话之一。这也说明虽然安徒生已经接近他生命的尾声,他的“童心”仍未衰。“只有玛勒姑妈不懂得它(这支歌)”,“不过她已经跳过了儿童时代的这道栅栏。”但安徒生的心却永远留在儿童时代。
