Chinese audiences will no longer be able to watch online overseas TV series at the same time they come out abroad, the Southern Metropolis¹ Daily reports.

The State Administration of Radio, Film and Television won't allow imported TV series to be available on video websites before they are censored², according to a new regulation revealed by an unnamed Wechat account.

从一条匿名的微信账号消息透露，新规定表示：国家广播电影电视总局不允许视频网站未经审查就引进海外剧集。

The new rule will delay TV series for whole seasons before they are released with Chinese subtitles³, which means Chinese audiences will watch them six months to a year later than viewers in South Korea or the United States, for example.

这项规定表示，在有中文字幕之前，整一季的剧集都会被延迟，这就意味的，举个例子而言，中国观众要比韩国或者美国的观众迟6个月到一年的时间看到剧集。

Many American series contain violent or sensitive scenes that will likely be deleted.

The regulation may lead some American TV series to not be seen in China at all, analysts⁴ said.
