Or else receiv'st with pleasure thine annoy?

要不然，你就高兴地接受苦恼？

If the true concord¹ of well tuned² sounds,

假如几种入调的声音合起来

By unions married, do offend thine ear,

成了真和谐，教你听了不乐，

They do but sweetly chide³ thee, who confounds

那它只是美妙地责备你不该

In singleness the parts that thou shouldst bear.

守独身而把你应守的本分推脱。

Mark how one string, sweet husband to another,

听一根弦儿，另一根的好丈夫，听，

Strikes each in each by mutual⁴ ordering;

一根拨响了一根应，琴音谐和；

Resembling sire, and child, and happy mother,

正如父亲、儿子和快乐的母亲，

Who all in one, one pleasing note do sing;

合成一体，唱一支动听的歌：

Whose speechless song, being many, seeming one,

他们那没词儿的歌，都异口同声，

Sings this to thee, 'Thou single wilt⁵ prove none.'
