The fantasy film, featuring Chinese and Hollywood stars such as Matt Damon, Willem Dafoe, and Andy Lau, centers on mankind's resistance against demon¹ monsters.

To fight evil, an international elite² force turn the Greatwall into a weapon to ward³ off monsters trying to devour⁴ humankind, said the director.

导演表示，这只国际精英力量为了对抗邪恶势力，将会把长城转变为武器用来抵抗想要毁灭人类的怪兽

All scenes were shot in China, said Zhang Yimou, adding that he had been driven by a desire to promote Chinese culture through the iconic Greatwall, with the help of Hollywood.

同时，张艺谋也表示，所有的场景都是在中国拍摄完成的，另外他也希望在好莱坞的帮助下，他可以通过中国的标志--长城，来对中国文化进行宣传

The film is slated⁵ for worldwide release on Nov. 23, 2016.
