'Tis the last rose of summer

Left blooming alone;

All her lovely companions

Are faded and gone;

No flower of her kindred,

No rosebud² is nigh,

To reflect back her blushes,

To give sigh for sigh.

I'll not leave thee, thou lone¹ one!

To pine on the stem;

Since the lovely are sleeping,

Go, sleep thou with them.

我不愿让你孤单单，死在你的花枝上，

姐妹花儿已死亡，请你睡到她身旁。

Thus kindly³ I scatter⁴,

Thy leaves o'er the bed,

Where thy mates of the garden

Lie scentless⁵ and dead.

我把你的绿叶儿，撒在你的小闺床，

你和你的姐妹们，一同漫步到天堂。

So soon may I follow,

When friendships decay,

From Love's shining circle

The gems⁶ drop away.

友谊如果已死亡，我也不愿留世上，

我把冰心献佳人，纯洁爱情放光芒，

When true hearts lie withered⁷

And fond ones are flown,

Oh! who would inhabit,

This bleak⁸ world alone?
