The clamour and fight, the doubt and despair, they know no end to their wranglings.

他们喧闹争吵，他们猜疑失望，他们争辩着却总是没有结果。

Let your lift come amongst them like a flame of light, my child, unflickering and pure, and delight them into silence.

They are cruel in their envy, their words are like hidden knives thirsting for blood.

他们的贪婪和嫉妒是残酷的;他们的言语，如暗藏的刀，渴望着饮血。

Go and stand amidst their scowling¹ hearts, my child, and let your gentle eyes fall upon them like the forgiving peace of the evening over the strife² of the day.

去，站在他们盛怒的心中，我的孩子，把你那和善的目光投到他们身上，仿佛那夜晚的宽容的和平遮蔽了白日的纷扰。

Let them see your face, my child,and thus know the meaning of all things;let them love you and thus love each other.

我的孩子，让他们看看你的脸，于是他们明白了万物的意义，让他们爱你，于是他们能够相爱。

Come and take your seat in the bosom³ of the limitless,my child. At sunrise open and raise your heart like a blossoming flower, and at sunset bend your head and in silence com-plate the worship of the day.

来，坐在无垠的怀抱里，我的孩子。日出时，将心敞开，孕育成花朵;夕阳西沉时，低下你的头，静静地完成这一天的膜拜。
