Yunnan will introduce 22 measures to clean up the local tourism industry, the provincial¹ tourism administrative² authority said last Monday.

云南省旅游管理机构上周一表示，该省将出台22条整治当地旅游业的措施。

The measures, which will come into effect on April 15, include forbidding forced shopping at designated stores and overly cheap tours, punishing fraud targeted at tourists and strengthening regulation of tour guides via an online information and evaluation³ system.

这些措施将于4月15日正式施行，其中包括：禁止在定点商店强迫购物和不合理低价游，处罚针对游客的欺诈行为，通过互联网信息和评价系统加强对导游的管理。

Yu Fan, director of the Yunnan Tourism Development Commission, said the measures aim to eradicate⁴ the deep-rooted problems within the local tourism industry.

Yunnan has been a popular destination for tourists from home and abroad. However, in recent years, numerous incidents of tourists being swindled, abused, beaten or forced by tour guides to purchase overpriced commodities at designated stores have been reported by the media.

云南一直是国内外游客青睐的目的地。但近年来，媒体曝光的游客被欺骗、辱骂、殴打，导游强迫游客在定点商店购买标价虚高商品等事件不计其数。

In August, several provincial authorities formed a task force and conducted inspections⁵ in cities known to be tourism hot spots, including Kunming, Dali and Lijiang.

在去年八月份，一些省级政府部门成立了一个专责小组，对包括昆明、大理和丽江在内的著名旅游热点城市进行了检查工作。

The provincial government also released regulations aimed at improving the tourism industry, but they were largely ineffective.

The new rules are "the strictest ever" regulations on Yunnan's tourism industry, according to industry insiders.

业内人士称，此次的新规是云南旅游业"史上最严的"整治措施。

Ren Jianzheng, chairman of the Yunnan Chamber⁶ of Tourism, welcomed the measures.

云南省旅游商会会长任剑峥对新规持欢迎态度。

"A chaotic⁷ tourism industry harms all involved - travel agencies, tour guides and tourists," Ren said, adding that a transparent⁸, orderly industry, which is expected to be brought about after the implementation⁹ of the new measures, will benefit all.

任剑峥说道；“一个混乱的旅游业会危害到所有相关的事物--包括旅行社、导游和游客。”他还表示，在新规实施之后，预计将会出现一个透明的、有序的产业，让各方受益。
