When the national entrance examination is over, peoplealways pay more attention to those who are enrolled¹ by colleges anduniversities. Those who failed the examination are treated coldly. Beingenrolled by colleges and universities is, of course, worth congratulating. Butgiving the successful candidates excessive praise and neglecting those whofailed the examination might send the wrong message: young people do not have abright future unless they go to college or university.

Teachers, parents and society, therefore, should givemore attention to students failing the examination. They are in more urgentneed of understanding, warmth and encouragement. We should tell them that to goto college is not the only way to success, and that, if they make enougheffort, they can still develop talents in other occupations that will servesociety.

因此，老师、家长和社会应该更关注在考试中失败的同学，他们更加需要迫切的理解、温暖和鼓励。我们应该告诉他们上大学不是成功的唯一道路，只要他们足够努力他们同样可以在其他职业发挥自己的天赋，服务社会。

Personally, the country’s economic developmentrequires not only specialized² scientists and technical experts, but alsoknowledge-based workers and skilled laborers³. After some vocational training,these senior high school students can also become backbones⁴ in their own fieldsand contribute their wisdom to our society.
