Crime drama "12 Citizens" has taken home a total of 5 awards at the China Movie Channel Media Awards at this year's Shanghai Film Festival.

The awards include Best Film, Best Director and Best Screenplay.

Actor He Bing has also taken home the Best Actor award for his role in the film. "12 Citizens has 12 actors playing together. Today Han Tongsheng and I are here to receive the awards. But other 10 actors are scattered¹ around the world, striving for their livelihoods² and dreams. Brothers, Han and I are actually on behalf of you to receive a collective acting³ award. We miss you."

Han Tongsheng has been given the Best Actor in a Supporting Role for his work on "12 Citizens."

The film itself details the lives of 12 people who are asked to discuss a murder case like a jury in a virtual court in a college.

Other winners from the China Movie Channel Media Awards have included Yang Zishan for Best Actress in the film "Miss Granny."

The 29-year old first shot to fame after starring in actor-turned-director Zhao Wei's first film "So Young."
