Good news for parents of Starbucks employees in China: The company is now offering health insurance that will likely benefit around 10,000 elderly people.

对于中国星巴克的员工来说这是一个好消息：该公司要为员工父母上医疗保险，大概能使1万名老年人受益。

According to Bloomberg, the company aims to uphold the traditional filial piety¹ values in China and give older people the "safety net" as they age.

据彭博资讯报道，星巴克计划支持并弘扬中国传统的孝道观念，在老年人晚年时给予相应的安全保障。

Starbucks' plan will supplement China's current Social Medical Insurance Program and will cover 30 common critical illnesses.

这样一来，星巴克的计划将会一定程度上补充中国目前的社会医疗保险计划，该保险预计将覆盖30种常见疾病。

The strategy emerged after the company found out that 70% of their employees who applied² to an internal financial assistance program were worried about their aging parents' health.

在此之前，星巴克有70%的员工申请内部财务援助计划，他们担心年迈父母的健康问题，随后星巴克便产生了这一想法。

"Supporting critical illnesses for aging parents exemplifies what we believe is our responsibility as a global public company and honors the family values deeply-rooted in the Chinese culture," said Howard Schultz, Starbucks' executive chairman.

星巴克的执行总裁霍华德·舒尔茨说道：“我们一直坚信，作为一家全球上市公司，为老年人解决重大疾病问题是我们的职责所在，这样做的同时也宣扬了中国文化中根深蒂固的家庭观念。”

According to Fortune, CEO of Starbucks China Belinda Wong said that this new investment is a way to show that they are aware of their responsibilities and extends it by helping³ their partners take care of their parents.

据美国《财富》杂志报道，星巴克中国区CEO王静瑛表示，这项新投资也向外界展示了该公司意识到了作为企业的责任感，并通过帮助自家员工照顾父母这种方式进一步延伸了这种责任。

Employees who have worked for the company for at least two years and with parents who are younger than 75 can apply for the health insurance. Starbucks plans to start their health insurance offer this June.

这项福利目前只针对已经在星巴克工作两年以上、且父母年龄在75岁以下的员工。星巴克计划在今年6月份开始为这些父母上医疗保险。
