China will continue to implement¹ a special college enrollment program for students from rural and poor regions in 2017 and key colleges and universities in the country will recruit more such students, according to a circular issued by the Ministry³ of Education.

According to the special program, key universities at national and provincial⁴ levels enroll² students from targeted areas to give students from rural and poor regions more access to quality higher education.

In a special national program, universities will enroll 63,000 students from underdeveloped regions in 2017, covering impoverished⁵ counties, key counties in the national poverty relief plan as well as some areas in Xinjiang Uygur autonomous⁶ region.
