China will require civilian¹ drones weighing more than 250g to be registered under real names starting from June 1 to improve civil aviation safety, the country's civil aviation regulator announced last Tuesday.

中国民用航空局上周二宣布，自6月1日起，我国将要求质量在250克以上的民用无人机进行实名登记注册，以提升民航安全。

Besides, the administration will announce protective zones around 155 airports and will develop more technical means, such as electronic fences, to keep drones away from the airports.

此外，民航局还将发布155个机场的保护范围，同时将研发电子围栏等更多技术手段，确保无人机远离各地机场。

"Drones have become a serious hazard in many Chinese cities, and have severely² interfered³ with civil aviation," Zhang said.

张瑞庆表示：“在国内许多城市，无人机已成为一大危害，严重干扰民航。”

On May 12, more than 6,000 passengers were stranded⁴ at Chongqing Jiangbei International Airport because of flights that were diverted, returned or canceled because of drone interference.

5月12日，无人机干扰造成重庆江北国际机场多个航班改变航线、返航或取消，6000余名旅客滞留机场。

Registration⁵ of civilian drones is a common international practice and the foundation for better management, according to Zhang Ruiqing, deputy head of the Office of Air Traffic Regulation of Civil Aviation Administration of China.
