在那儿，你的手指灼焦过石版！

There—where thy shadow to thy people shone!

在那儿，你的形影向子民显现！

Thy glory shrouded² in its garb³ of fire:

你的光辉 ，披裹着火焰的袍子，

Thyself—none living see and not expire!

你的真身，谁见了也难逃一死！

Oh! in the lightning let thy glance appear;

哦，愿你的目光在雷电中闪耀！

Sweep from his shiver'd hand the oppressor's spear:

斩断压迫者血手，扫落他枪矛！

How long by tyrants⁴ shall thy land be trod!

你的土地——让暴君蹂躏多久？

How long thy temple worshipless, Oh God!

你的殿宇——荒废到什么时候？
