Japan's parliament enacted¹ a bill to levy² a departure tax of 1,000 yen³.

日本国会参议院近日颁布了一项法案，将向离境者征收1000日元的“出境税”。

The new tax is scheduled to kick in on Jan 7, 2019, and applies to both Japanese and foreign travelers leaving the country by plane or ship. The levy will be added to airfares and ship fares specifically.

按计划这项新税将于2019年1月7日起正式生效，对搭乘飞机或乘船离开日本的本国和外国游客均适用，将被特别计入到机票和船票票价中。

Toddlers under the age of two and transit⁴ passengers leaving Japan within 24 hours of arrival will be exempted⁵.

两岁以下的儿童和24小时内离开日本的过境旅客将无需缴纳这笔税费。

Revenue from the tax is estimated to amount to around 43 billion yen per fiscal⁶ year.
