The first round of 6,019 applicants¹ who meet the qualifications for Beijing's household registration² system, called hukou in Chinese, was published on Monday for public supervision³, according to municipal authorities.

Beijing launched its points-based application system for household registration in April this year after three years of investigation⁴ and research preparation in advance, a move to meet the demand of non-native Beijing residents to stabilize⁵ their living situation in the capital.

经过3年的前期调研准备工作，北京市于今年4月正式实施积分落户制度，此举旨在满足非京籍居民在京稳定生活的需求。

Beginning Monday, the 124,657 applicants can check their results on the official website to see if they are within the top 6,019.

自本周一起，124657名申请者可通过官方网站查询本人积分结果，查看自己是否在积分排名靠前的6019人中。

Li Sufang, deputy head of the Beijing Development and Reform Commission, said the number, which was decided⁶ to be about 6,000, was discussed thoroughly⁷ via the municipal government, and it will not affect Beijing's population control plan.
