Chanel has become the first luxury fashion house in the world to stop using exotic animal skins, like snake, crocodile, lizard¹ and stingray.

Luxury accessories made from such materials have hit peak prices in recent years. Chanel handbags coats and shoes made from snake, alligator² and stingray skin have reportedly sold for up to $8,000.
