A disturbing incident has come to surface near the island of Tahiti in French Polynesia. According to wildlife organisation¹ Sea Shepard, a young humpback whale was struck by a speeding boat and got killed after getting gravely injured.

The boat in question was travelling at a speed six times above the permissible² limit. A few divers³ shot a video of the whale nicknamed 'Sweet Girl' which had its upper mouth sliced causing the blood to spill in incredible amounts into the water.

The accident is said to have occurred on October 8, when the boat was travelling at a speed of 30 knots through the Tahiti port. Sea Shepard said that the whale suffered fractures to its nasal bone among other major injuries.
