Spring View

国破山河在，

The state is destroyed, but the country remains¹.

城春草木深。

In the city in spring, grass and weeds grow everywhere.

感时花溅泪，

Moved by the times, the flowers draw tears.

恨别鸟惊心。

Hating separation, hearing birds breaks my heart.

烽火连三月，

Beacon² fires have gone on for three months,

家书抵万金。

A letter from home would be worth ten thousand pieces of gold.

白头搔更短，

My white hair grows thinner,

浑欲不胜簪。

It can hardly hold a hairpin³ now.
