The region with the highest production of king crab¹ (also called Kamchatka crab) is Russia’s Far East, particularly the waters around the Kamchatka Peninsula and the Sea of Okhotsk. Russia accounts for over 90% of the global king crab harvest, with Kamchatka’s cold, pristine² waters being the primary fishing ground. Smaller-scale fisheries exist in Norway and Alaska (USA), but their output is much lower compared to Russia’s dominance.
