宋人有耕者,田中有株,兔走触株,折颈而死。因释其耒而守株,冀复得兔。兔不可复得,而身为宋国笑。
"Waiting for More Hares by the Stump1"
A farmer in the State of Song was working in his field when a hare dashed by, accidentally hit a tree stump, broke its neck, and died. The farmer abandoned his plow2 and waited by the stump, hoping to catch another hare this way. No more hares came, and he became the laughingstock of his village.
宋国有个农夫,田里有一截树桩。一天,一只兔子飞奔时撞到树桩上,折断脖子死了。农夫便放下农具,守在树桩旁,希望再捡到撞死的兔子。结果兔子没等到,他自己却成了宋国人的笑柄。
寓意:
讽刺那些妄想不劳而获、固守狭隘经验的人,告诫人们要主动努力,不可心存侥幸。
