Cheese Rolling was back for 2025 today (Monday, May 26) at Coopers Hill, near Brockworth.
The winner of the first men’s downhill race was German Tom Kopke, 23, from Munich, who retained the title he won last year.
Competitors sprinted1, tripped and tumbled down Cooper’s Hill in Brockworth to try and win the 8lb double Gloucester.
It was deemed 'unsafe' and people were warned about the risk of serious injuries, but that did not stop daredevils throwing themselves down a steep hill in the annual death-defying cheese rolling race in Gloucestershire.
The event has a world-wide audience due to its bizarre nature and it makes for dramatic images and videos as people hurtle down the hill, tripping, stumbling, falling, somersaulting in a wave of flailing2 limbs. Many people have suffered injuries in the past.
