FIFA Secretary General Jerome Valcke said on Wednesday that FIFA would postpone¹ bidding to host the 2026 World Cup while investigations² continue into allegations that bribery⁴ helped determine hosts of earlier tournaments.

FIFA had expected to allocate⁵ the 2026 tournament to a host nation in 2017, but it has been embroiled⁶ in scandal since the US indicted⁷ 9 top officials on corruption⁸ charges last month.
