While the holiday used to be a period of family reunions and big feasts, many Chinese are now choosing to escape the winter pollution and the vastly overstretched domestic travel infrastructure¹ by taking an outbound trip instead.

Ctrip, China’s largest online travel agency, recently released its "2017 Spring Festival Tourism Big Data Report.". According to Ctrip, the top 10 overseas destinations for Chinese New Year tourists in 2017 are: Thailand, Japan, the United States, Singapore, Australia, Malaysia, South Korea, Indonesia, the Philippines and Vietnam. The report also claims that this year has seen much smaller increases in package tour prices compared to previous years, with plenty of last-minute offers still available due to a wider range of available deals as well as increased time flexibility².

携程网，中国最大的在线旅游网站，近期发布了“2017春节旅游大数据报告”。携程网表示，2017年中国人春节假期最喜爱海外旅游目地是：泰国、日本、美国、新加坡、澳大利亚、马来西亚、韩国、印尼、菲律宾和越南。这份报告也声称今年的跟团游的价格跟去年相比有小幅度的增长，因为有大量的选择，而使得在最后一刻仍然有可跟团游的机会，增加了时间的灵活性。

PS：今年的春节黄金周法定假日从2017年1月27日开始，至2017年2月2日，人们可能会选择在周五休假一天，将假期延长至2月3日。

Positive forecasts for outbound trips are supported by the continued easing of visa requirements for many destinations, increased flight numbers and relatively³ low-cost package tours, with tour operators hoping to lure⁴ back some of the increasing number of independent travelers.
