Ten years after dropping out of Berkeley, 在从伯克利退学十年后，

In various interviews, Jobs had been referring to computers as a bicycle for the mind; 在各种访谈中，乔布斯一直把电脑比做思想的自行车：

the ability of humans to create a bicycle allowed them to move more efficiently⁴ than even a condor⁵, 人类创造了自行车，从而让自己的移动比秃鹰还要高效；

and likewise the ability to create computers would multiply the efficiency of their minds. 类似的，电脑的发明也将让人们的思维效率大为提髙。

So one day Jobs decreed that henceforth the Macintosh should be known instead as the Bicycle. 于是有一天，乔布斯宣布，从今以后，麦金塔更名为“自行车”。

This did not go over well. 然而这一决定并不受欢迎。

"Burrell and I thought this was the silliest thing we ever heard, and we simply refused to use the new name," recalled Hertzfeld. “伯勒尔和我认为这是我们听说过的最愚蠢的事情，我们都拒绝使用新名字。”赫茨菲尔德回忆。
