Examples include the man who shot himself in the head with a 'spy pen' weapon to show his friend it was real, and the thief attempting to purloin a steel cable from a lift shaft - and unbolted it while standing in the lift which then plummeted to the ground, killing him.
At one conference, I offered a slot in a power strip I had managed to purloin to a fellow journalist, only for him to turn it down, snootily proclaiming he was using a Mac and therefore didn't need power (personally, I don't agree with his view that Macs have longer-lasting batteries; I suspect he just had a newer battery than mine).
