  • 10.Over indulgence is not a thing

Too much chocolate. What's that? You let go of control when it comes to eating these bundles of joy. And you don't regret a thing.

9.You order anything at a restaurant that has the word chocolate in it

You start drooling over a menu that has the word ‘chocolate' in it, multiple times. You never go back to a restaurant that doesn't serve a chocolate dessert because the only fondue that matters is chocolate!

    8.Black or white – you don't discriminate1

Comparing the benefits of dark versus2 white chocolate, is like a dog trying to catch its own tail. It gets you nowhere. Discriminating3 against little white pillows of heaven is a sorry crime. Black, white, Lindt or Cadbury, they are all worth it.

7.You want to punch people who say, "Chocolates are not healthy"

Let's ponder upon the equation: Health = Happiness = Chocolate. A balanced diet is indeed chocolate in both hands, eh? Besides, try eating one when you are upset or angry. It is the voluptuous4 anti-depressant that makes all your problems disappear. Accept the truth people. Chocolates heal, soothe5, enlighten and make everything better.

6.You don't trust people who say, "I hate chocolates"

Did you just claim that you don't like chocolates? Either you are lying or you have a severe undiagnosed disease of the tastebuds. Go figure.

Through their analysis of four other studies examining death rate information, the doctors estimate there are at least 251,454 deaths due to medical errors annually6 in the United States. The authors believe the number is actually much higher, as home and nursing home deaths are not counted in that total.

The U.S. Department of Health and Human Services Office of the inspector7 general in 2008 reported 180,000 deaths by medical error among Medicare patients alone.

Dr. Martin Makary and Dr. Michael Daniel, who did the study, hope their analysis will lead to real reform in a health care system they argue is letting patients down.

One reason there's such a wide range of numbers is because accurate data on these kinds of deaths is surprisingly sparse8. That's in part because death certificates don't ask for enough data, Makary said.

Makary believes there should be a space on the certificate that asks if the death is related to a medical error. If the answer is yes, Makary suggests the doctor should have some legal protection so the certificate is not something that could be used in a lawsuit9.

There are barcodes that could be placed on each piece of surgical10 equipment so a team could account for every tool at the end of a surgery, for example. Makary believes many hospitals don't invest in technology that could prevent errors because the hospitals don't always realize how big the problem is and don't make it a priority. Funding for research on medical errors is also extremely limited.

The problem is not unique to the United States. Earlier studies have shown undercounted medical errors are a problem in hospitals throughout the world.

Doctors are human and they are going to make mistakes, Makary said.
